Global Warming

Ok, global warming is a huge issue during these few years. It is causing iceburgs to melt and bugs population to rise. It is a result of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the air causing green-house effect which traps the heat-wave from escaping our atmosphere.

So, what are your views on global warming? Is it a myth? Is it just the sun heating up? Well, share your opinion.

I think it's quite a big deal. People should worry about this kind of thing since this is the world that we live in. We have to act soon and act fast to help stop this global problem. But the question is, exactly how many people actually worry about this and help to prevent it?

Quite alot actually. People (like us) are starting to do things to help the environment like using the new flourescent light bulb instead of those old energy wasting ones. At school, we covered global warming a little and we did a poster on it. I think our generation is the ones that will stop the global warming because we are so aware of it.

It's not only CO2 that's the problem. Methane is a huge factor in global warming.

Just to add another take on the topic, it is predicted that the sun is actually going into a stage of it's cycle where its energy output will decrease temporarily. This will result in a global cooling trend over the next 150 years. Read more here: http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=10630

Make we wonder can we survive the Little Ice Age since we live in Canada.

Ah yes, I heard that also. It was said that this man-made heating of the Earth may actually cause our race to survive this Ice Age. Unfortunately, there is the other end of the spectrum, heating. We may have severe cooling before us now but there will also be severe heating eventually. Needless to say, man-made Global Warming will not help us in that little spot...

You contradicted yourself. I guess you meant to say that anthropogenic climate change will injure us in the long run.

I think we'll survive, I mean, men survive a lot of different disasters.

If you read the whole thing you would see that I mean that man-made Global Warming will shield us partially from natural Global Cooling but it was not shield us from natural Global Warming. Duh!

Even if it will shield us from global cooling, we still are going to be in a more worst condition.

No. It will mean that the Ice Age will be less severe. Also, Global Cooling is said to be occurring in the near future.

Well it will shield us from the cooling but other disasters will occur. Global warming is not just about warming this planet up. And, the cooling has already began.

I would not use "shield". I think that "offset changes" is a more appropriate description.
